Start with the outcome
Which kind of keyless access suits the door?
Not every door takes the same hardware. The door material, its thickness, the lock already fitted and the way the entry is used decide what can be installed and what still needs a key.
What this service helps you decide
Start with the door and the people who use it. Keyless entry is chosen around the door itself, how many people need access and what happens when the battery, the phone or the code lets someone down. Tell us which door is involved, how many people need entry, and whether a key should still work as a backup.
Tell us what you need →What should I mention first?
Tell us the suburb, the door or access point involved, what has changed and the result you need. That gives us a useful starting point without asking you to diagnose the hardware.

One entry door with a code
Keypad and code locks
A code lock replaces the key at a single door. Codes can be changed when the people using them change, without new keys being cut, and a code can be given to a regular visitor, carer or cleaner for the hours they need.
The outcomeEntry without a key, and a straightforward way to change who has the code.
Entry plus control from a phone
Smart deadbolts
Some models add app control, temporary codes and a record of when the door was opened, where the model and the internet connection at the property support those features. What a lock can do varies widely between brands.
The outcomeAccess that can be managed from a phone for the features the chosen model actually provides.
Several people using the same door
Fobs, codes and separate credentials
Where a door serves family members, tenants or a small team, access can be issued in separate credentials so one person's code or fob is removed on its own. A shared code cannot be withdrawn from one person once it has been passed on.
The outcomeA clearer record of who has access, and a simpler way to take it back.

What happens next
From first enquiry to a working entry
- 01 / Step
Tell us about the door
Say which door it is, what is fitted to it now, how many people need access and whether a physical key must still work. Mention whether the property is rented, because that affects what can be changed.
- 02 / Step
Confirm what will fit
The door material, thickness, existing holes and lock position are checked. Some doors suit a keypad or deadbolt readily; others need a different product or cannot take one at all.
- 03 / Step
Install and set up
The hardware is installed and the codes, fobs or credentials are added with you. The mechanical override and the battery arrangement are explained before the entry is put back into everyday use.
- 04 / Step
Test entry and backup
The door is tested both closed and open, and the way to add or remove a code is demonstrated. Keep the override key somewhere that does not depend on the same phone or code.
Useful guidance
Before you choose keyless entry
Plan for when the technology lets you down
Every electronic lock depends on something: a battery, a power supply, a network or an app. Ask what happens when that stops working, whether a physical key still opens the door, and where that key is kept. Test the entry with the door closed before the old keys are retired, and keep a way back into the property that does not rely on the same device. A flat battery is a minor nuisance when there is another way in, and a serious problem when there is not.
Codes, fobs and people
Decide who needs their own code. A shared code is convenient until someone leaves, and once it has been passed on there is no way to trace who used it. Individual codes or fobs can be removed without changing anything for everyone else. Where a cleaner, carer or tradesperson needs regular access, a separate credential or a temporary code usually suits better than a spare key left in a hiding place, and it ends when the arrangement does. Keep a note of who holds each code or fob and when it was issued, so access can be reviewed as people come and go.
Useful answers
Keyless Entry questions.
If your situation is different, describe the property, door and outcome in the enquiry form.
Can keyless entry be fitted to my existing door?
Often, where the door and the current lock suit the hardware. Timber, metal and some glass doors take different products, and an existing lock position can limit the choice. The door is checked before a model is confirmed, and a door that has already been repaired or modified may need a closer look.
Do I still need a key?
Many keyless locks keep a mechanical override, so a key can still open the door. Others depend on a code or a charged battery only. Ask about the override before deciding, particularly where the door is the only way into the property. Where a lock has no override, the code and the battery become the only way in, so that choice should be made deliberately.
What happens when the battery goes flat?
Most battery models warn well before they stop working, and can be opened with the override until the batteries are replaced. Ask what the warning looks like, which batteries the model uses and what the lock does once the charge is low.
Can I remove one person's access without changing the lock?
With individual codes or fobs, that person's credential can be removed while everyone else keeps working access. A shared code cannot be withdrawn from one person, so separate credentials are worth setting up before access needs to be taken away.
What hours are keyless entry appointments available?
Appointments are available Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm. Call during those hours or send an enquiry with the address, the door involved and the entry hardware you are considering, and mention whether the door must stay usable during the visit.
